"Overworked!" follows Hoss, a horse moving to the big city of Foxdale. A city known for opportunity, love, and demons. After losing his funds in a phishing accident, A job search leads him to Kenji Handy, a local handyman business. Join Hoss as he meets new friends, foes, and uncovers the mystery of his missing bank account!
Overworked is a furry, adult, visual novel-style point-and-click mystery where time is of the essence. Will you spend time with the locals? Or work towards the main story's goal?
Overworked works with a "Calendar System" where some actions will advance the time of day. The story of "Overworked" is linear, but the choices Hoss can make throughout can influence his relationships with the various inhabitants of Foxdale.
There are currently six planned dateable characters that are interactable throughout the game's overarching story.

FOR USERS CONCERNED ABOUT A POTENTIAL VIRUS:
We created this game using the Godot Engine (version 4.5.1 to be specific) and we embedded the game content into the final EXE that is produced. That's why you only see a single EXE file in the download. We made this decision as it was easier to package and distribute rather than a large zip with tons of files in it.
Embedding the PCK does have advantages, but also can be falsely identified as a virus. You can find more information here: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/45563
While we want everyone to enjoy Overworked and all the hard work we put into it, all we can do is provide you with information and our assurance that it is NOT a virus. If you choose not to play the game, that is absolutely your choice. We hope you will try it out, but we understand if you don't want to.

Install instructions
Windows - Simply unzip and run the application.
Android - Unzip and install the APK file.
MacOS - Unzip and run the .app file - You may get prompted about the app being unsigned / unlicensed depending on your system settings. Unfortunately our team doesn't have a budget for Apple Developer licensing and in our testing the app seemed to work just fine without it.
TO workaround it: Newer Mac OS versions require you go to the system settings -> privacy & security and choose "allow apps from App Store and know developers" . When an unsigned app is loaded you go back to the privacy and security and select load app anyway and then say yes and put your password in.
Older versions of Mac OS -> right click load app or option click load app.

Linux - Unzip and run the file.
SteamDeck - We've found the best results with using the Windows version running with Proton9. You can use the touch screen for pretty much everything you need in game. THE ONE EXCEPTION IS VIRUS BUSTERS - when you get to the game the instructions will tell you to use arrow keys to navigate around and space bar to fire. INSTEAD, you can use the left joystick and the A button to fire. (We're still trying to figure out how to change the instructions for SteamDeck alone and that's not quite as easy).

my only gripe with this is the art style is pretty inconsistent and i dont feel this is intentional but other than that i enjoyed this

Does the game resets our save files when updating? I've updated the game and I've lost my save
It shouldn't - which platform are you playing on? (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, SteamDeck?) We'll add in some extra testing to make sure that existing saves are preserved. The only time I can see this happening is if you're on Android and you uninstall the game before installing the latest. If you remove the game then yes - all save files will be removed with it. If you download the latest APK it should just update the existing one while preserving your saves.
I'm using Android. I didn't uninstall the game and reinstalled, just updated and lost my save.

So we ran a bunch of testing across a few different versions and Android devices- we couldn’t get the issue to happen. Our saves were intact every time we upgraded. Not sure what happened with your experience but hopefully it doesn’t happen again!
At the beach, is there a scene between the shark and the boar yet? Or is that a tease for the actual release? Anyway i cant find a way to progress the time without it going fully to the next morning so i thought i might be missing something lol

OMG, I’m so in love with this game!, The animations and scenes are so detailed and well made, I love them!, And the characters all have a good design, My favorites are Orion, Ephiles, Ivan, Dean and Dean’s older sister Wich i can’t remember her name now lol ;-; .

I really enjoy what I have seen so far, but I am also getting the bug where the Virus minigame goes on forever, particularly when I try to get three stars.
I'll try again soon and see if I can continue, regardless, I am excited to see this game's future and I hope Colin has a route.

They should fix their android download so it's an .apk but if there's an apk inside the zip, just download a zip/rar app to get it lol
Can also just unzip on your PC and transfer the file to your phone

don’t know if it’s the game or just my computer, it seems that the virus minigame is bugged in that when I destroy the first 2 ships the game just endlessly scrolls on

Cannot skip the first mini game. Ya need a "skip game or finish button". Cannot save game at this point either, quite annoying.
I restarted VN from start 4 times fast forwarding to the point and clicking (N), I'm not a gamer and don't care to play them. So I won't be continuing this VN.
Will watch for update to this and may resume VN.
Thanks for the feedback! We are definitely having a look at our save system and hope to have a much better solution for players to make saves more frequently.
For the mini games: at this time we don’t plan to implement a skip option. While the game primarily presents itself as a VN right now, we’re aiming for more of a click-and-explore type story which lends itself to more interactivity than just reading and following the story. The games and how well the player performs them will have an impact on the story.
We hope you decide to stick around and enjoy the rest of the game as it’s built, but if it’s not something that appeals to you- that’s OK too.

Gonna ask something, is this normal the game have slight delay for every transition(Like move to another place or interact with another object)?? I'm playing with Android, is this just device issue or just how's the game works?
It depends! Are you running on a fairly new device or an older one? We tested with a few phones and tablets and didn't note anything running slowly - but obviously the Android ecosystem is fairly vast. Older devices may take a bit more time to load and unload things.
It's kinda old, but not really old. Well the delay itself it's not really that long just like 1-2 second, so far loading and saving game is works just fine and dialog also run smoothly. Maybe it's just my phone, it's not really a big issue in the first place bcz i don't really have a patience to wait lol

Is it forced to do lewd scenes with all characters? I was very surprised with the first one. No prompts just BAM into it. I'm fine with that! Just want to know to have the mindset reading this instead of focusing on character/story, ect
Going for the characters scenes is completely optional! But the game is a NSFW story. So expect smut and romance!
Will lewd scenes be limited to the six dateable characters, or will others like the janitor and the receptionist get scenes as well? If they don't, that's fine, I was just curious.
Other characters will get CGs as well, but the dateable ones will be a lot deeper

This is one of the best demos I’ve ever played, I’m absolutely hooked! The artstyle is adorable and honestly I just really vibe with the characters. The game ran pretty smoothly, however I think saving during dialogue would be pretty cool.
I’m interested in the plushie system and how the VN will play out, I can’t wait to learn more about Hoss and Matt’s mysterious bear friend.
Speaking of Matt I really like him, and while I don’t know if this game will have a full on dating/route selection he’d definitely be first on my list. Very handsome design <3

Not sure how feasible it would be, but adding in the ability to save even during the conversations would be a pretty big QoL improvement.
Also - if you're able to add in the option to save before the demo spits you out - that could be nice too. (Unless you see enough changing in the first few days that a save wouldn't be necessary.)
